Meet Journey: Our Newest Certified Mold Detection Dog at Mold Dog of Southern California

We're excited to introduce Journey, our beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer and the newest member of the Mold Dog of Southern California team!

Journey completed her professional mold detection training with Bill Whitstine in August 2026, the same trainer who trained our beloved Australian Shepherd, Misty. Since then, she's hit the ground running, completing more than 30 inspections, including residential properties and even a school.

A Natural Talent for Detection

German Shorthaired Pointers are known for their exceptional sense of smell, intelligence, energy, and enthusiasm for working. These qualities make them particularly well suited for specialized scent detection. Journey's training allows her to recognize and alert to mold, helping identify areas of a property that warrant further investigation.

She's been working alongside Tyler, who brings 13 years of personal experience with mold-related issues, including 2.5 years of professional experience in canine mold detection and more than 600 inspections performed. Together, they've been helping clients investigate hidden mold concerns throughout Southern California and even a few inspections in Arizona.

Joining the Mold Dog Family

Journey joins our beloved Australian Shepherd, Misty, as part of the Mold Dog of Southern California family. Both dogs share the distinction of having been professionally trained by Bill Whitstine, and each brings her own unique personality and working style to the team. We're excited to have Journey on board and look forward to having both girls contributing to our work!

Professional Mold Detection Throughout Southern California and Beyond

As the longest-standing mold detection dog company in Southern California, we're proud to help homeowners, renters, and businesses investigate hidden mold concerns. Our inspections involve a thorough search of the property, with Journey alerting to mold and Tyler marking those locations for further investigation. Based in Fallbrook, California, we serve clients throughout Southern California and also coordinate inspection routes to Arizona, Southern Nevada, Central California, and other areas based on demand, potentially even nationwide.

Welcome to the Family, Journey!

Journey has already made a wonderful addition to our team, and we're excited to watch her continue growing and gaining experience. We're grateful to everyone who has welcomed her into their homes and businesses over the past few months, and we look forward to introducing her to many more of you!
